GREETINGS FROM MINNESOTA!!  FOR  THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE KUMPF FAMILY CHRONICLES, YOU KNOW THIS TRIP IS TO MEET BABY #3 OF MY PERFECT "TRIPLE CROWN" YEAR!!!             ELIAS KEATON TENPENNY was born on Saturday, May 29th to my Sarah and her husband Elliott and grandma jumped in the car and was here Sunday for lunch!!   Elias weighs 10lbs. 3 oz. and is 22" long. We have had a few complications, but nothing a few extra days in the hospital  didn't solve and looks like we are coming home today!!  Staying a few more days to help Sarah get settled as Elliott goes back to work, but then heading back to Tennessee to get the Medical Center Store OPEN!!!!

My Bill has been working diligently while I have been playing with the baby and we are steadily making progress. I think we are getting the carpet put down the end of this week, Bill has the cardstock cases put together and cutting out the counters, Chris has the computers and working his magic with them and hopefully, keep your fingers crossed, we can start putting in inventory next week.  I know all of  you are driving by regularly and keeping a lookout on the progress and we are excited that you are all so excited!! Just keep watching the website and your emails for a final "Opening Date".

But it is still business as usual on Memorial so don't forget this weekend is LAYOUT OF THE MONTH!! Linda will be there again this month with her limited edition  "Father's Day" kit available. It is a beautiful complement to the "Mother's Day" kit from last month and an absolute necessity if you are doing vintage/heritage pages!!  Since last month found us in  the 100 year flood, we actually have a few of those kits available as well. But don't wait all day . . . I don't think they will last long!!

Lots of classes available this month to celebrate "Father's Day". Everything from FIRST FATHER'S DAY to a really cute "DAD" book. GREAT GIFT IDEAS . . .  let's face it, he really doesn't want another tie :)

We are planning a really wonderful week long SUMMER CAMP for our young scrappers, ages 9-13. They will be making a complete album in a whimisical summer theme. Perfect way to get them started as we will be requiring them to cut, measure, design and adhere . . . and everything in between!!  Call us to sign up today . . . class numbers will be  limited so everyone will get hands on  attention.

Time to go . . . more to follow . . . baby calling!!                         Love to each of you,   Mary

Good Monday Morning Everyone!!

I am hoping that everyone had a wonderful weekend and a joyous Easter. What a beautiful day it was . . . perfect in every way. Hoping that you are able to carry that same joy and beauty into your week!!

We have so much going on at the store right now it is difficult to keep up with everything!!  So get ready to take some notes :)

1) Don't forget that Courtney Baker will be coming to the store Saturday morning, April 10th. Courtney is a local artist with her own line of clear stamps. She has some very creative ways of using them and will be sharing those ideas with us on Saturday!!  We have some of her product in the store right now, but the two newest lines will be featured in class on Saturday!!  You will be making 4 cards for only $16.50 and you will also receive a discount on ALL of Courtney's stamps!!  For more information go to www.sassyscrapper.net and give us a call to reserve your space!!

2) If you missed Layout of the Month on Saturday, there are still kits available. We understand it was a holiday weekend so if this was your first miss, you may still pick up your kit for free. Just come in ASAP and keep yourself on schedule :)

3) More new paper on the floor that you absolutely MUST SEE!!  A new line of double sided papers and sticker sheet from Reminisce called "Nursery Rhyme"  . . . featuring Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty!!   What fun . . . you will love them!!

If you were one of the many who requested the "Three Bugs in a Rug" line called "Little Chick" . . . it is here!! Not expecting this one to last long . . . hurry!!

4) If you have been waiting, we have Rachel back on the calendar for "Uppercase Living". Beautiful decorative tray workshop on Tuesday evening!!

5) "Stampers" crop is this Friday night!! Pack up your stamping projects and come join us. Great fellowship, awesome ideas and lots of tips and techniques!! Luba will be doing the project for the week . . . you won't want to miss this one!!

6) Lee will be doing "Copic Marker" techniques two times next week! Sunday afternoon class will be both techniques and a personal reference book for your own collection of Copics!!  Great way to get organized!!    Class on Tuesday evening will be a layout using the new BoBunny limited edition line "Jasmyne " and incorporating Copics into the layout!! Great opportunity to brush up on Copic techniques and learn new ones as well . . . and add a page to your album!!  Check out the picture on website!!

7) While you are on the website . . . check out the Cricut Workshop and Bettye's Beyond Basics class!!  Cricut class is jammed packed with techniques in an adorable two page layout!!  Will be using Copics again and vinyl!!  Kits will be available if you can't make the class . . . just give us a call!!    And if you are a more traditional Easter celebration family . . . our Beyond Basics class should fit the bill.  Again, if you can't make the class, kits are available. Just don't wait too long!!

8) Retreat is scheduled for April 16th - 18th. We have a great group of girls making the trip, but still room for a few more!! Should be a beautiful spring weekend to spend in the lodge. Come join us for a great time of scrapbooking and fellowship . . . and maybe even a little quiet time rocking on the porch and listening to the sounds of spring in the woods!!

9) If you are new to our newsletter or just haven't touched base with us lately, we want to be sure you know we are opening a second location on Medical Center Parkway. The facility is in front of the convention center and directly across the street from the new Chamber of Commerce. We are with a Subway once again with other tennants yet to be determined.  Yes, I said SECOND location . . . no, the Memorial store is not going to be closed!  We just want to add the same great product and service to our Sassy Girls on the "other" side of town!!  We are still going thru remodeling, inspections, permits, electricians etc. etc. etc and haven't gotten to the "fun stuff" yet, but hoping to open our doors mid May/early June.  Many of you know that I am expecting grandbaby #3 for 2010 the first week of June!! That will probably have an effect on our opening date . . . just not sure yet how it will all play out!!  Will definitely keep everyone updated on both!!

Are you having trouble following this to the end??  Do you just want to come on down and smell the new paper??  Well, if you haven't already started . . . grab your keys and head our direction!!  There is soooooooo much going on here at Sassy . . . . don't be left out!!

Happy Easter, one more time!!   Count your blessings, girls . . . and take lots of pictures!!        My love and best wishes to each of you!!    Mary

HAPPY WEDNESDAY MORNING ALL YOU SASSY GIRLS!!

What a crazy few days we have had!!  My Sarah came in last Thursday after having to change planes twice (first had technical dificulties . . . second got struck by lightning)!! But we have her safe and sound with us for the next week and I am soaking up every minute that I can with her :)    Saturday, Bettye and I had a wonderful day with a group at Cascade High School (go to Bell Buckle and turn right :)  I love going to these events and really getting to spend time with all the stampers/scrapbookers and share their love of scrapbooking and hear about the events and family memories they are creating.  Thank you Lynn for your invitation!! What a wonderful job I have!!

But it's Monday and here we go again!!  Don't forget we are still celebrating March Madness here at Sassy. ALL SPORTS papers and embellishments are still on sale thru Friday. We had a great turnout for the Sports Technique Page and actually have a couple of kits left. If you missed the class, come on in or give us a call and we will hold a kit for you. We have both baseball and basketball available!  And then DON"T FORGET . . . we are having a sports CHALLENGE. Just bring in any sports layout that you have done using Sassy papers/embellishments and you could win a gift card!! We will give a prize for both People's Choice and Sassy Choice . . . come on . . . you can do it!!!

More great product going out on the floor even as we speak!! If you have been waiting for the Tim Holtz Design Ruler or the Scor-Mat . . . they are here!!  YEAH!!
Added the vintage Easter papers from Karen Foster to the floor today as well as more colors in Cricut Vinyl and a 12x24 Cricut Mat!!  Sorry about the lack of mats, but we are on backorder too. Will definitely send out smoke signals when they all arrive :)  If you have been "stamping w/Sherri" we have the Dove Blender Pens and Blending Medium in the store as well as 30 new Copic Marker colors, the Copic Multiliner Pens and the white medium.

Brenda has done a wonderful job with a "Cowgirl" magnet board and new cowgirl papers from AdornIt. If you have a cowgirl in the family, you won't want to miss this one!! And just in this morning are National Park papers and embellishments from Creative Imaginations!! If you are planning or have been vacationing out west, these are beautiful and will make stunning layouts!!

Don't forget graduation will be upon us before we turn around!!  If you are needing a special order school album this year, be sure to allow 6 weeks on the order. Time will lengthen as we draw closer to graduation dates!!  We are stocking up on local school papers as well as MTSU, but again, these are special order and often go out as quickly as they come in . . . just a warning :)    If you are thinking of doing your own invitations, please check with us about special diecuts. The girls are very proficient with their Gypsies, Cricuts and Silhouettes and can make some beautiful "one of a kind" designs for you. Again, just allow us plenty of time.

We also had a Sassy Girl attend the VBS craft workshop the other night and found this year's theme was going to be ranch related!!  WOW . . . can we help you with that!!  Give me some time to get all my ducks in a row and we will put together a VBS display for all you craft ladies . . . AND a 20% discount!!  Put your supply lists together and tell us the church you are representing and we will do all we can to make it as easy as possible for you.

ONE MORE THING . . . .  We have had such a problem keeping this under wraps, but wanted to be sure that everything was in order before we let the cat out of the bag.
And I wanted to be sure that you . . . our special customers . . . were the first to hear!!                 SASSY SCRAPPER will be opening a second location on Medical Center Parkway!!  Lots yet to do both with the building and business technicalities, but the lease is signed, I have keys to the building . . . . it is a done deal!!  Watch for our second location "on the other side of town" coming soon!!!

I know that jaws must be dropping and you are all a bit stunned, but please know that we are excited and have great things planned for you!!  Also, please know from the bottom of my heart just how thankful I am for each and every one of you. Without you there would be no Sassy Scrapper. We love you, we appreciate all that you are to us, we look forward to another 5-10 years of being your hometown scrapbook store!!  You deserve the best and we intend to offer it to you!!

Hold on to your hats girls!!        Hugs from Mary   @Sassy

Are you ready to get your scrappin’ mojo back in motion?  We’ve got a guest designer coming to teach you new techniques using some of the hottest new collections.  Amie has just finished her appointment as a Design Team member on Let’s Scrap, an online sketch site.  She first began scrapbooking thirteen years ago and for the last six 1/2 years has been repping for some of the biggest scrapbook manufacturers.  She’s bringing her talent and bag of tricks to get your Creative Impulses beating.  You can check out some of her work on her blog at www.savvyscrapperamie@blogspot.com. She will be featuring lines like Bo Bunny, Creative Imaginations, KI Memories, Little Yellow Bicycle, and Sassafrass Lass, to name a few of our favorites.  In each class you will create 3 single page layouts, and leave with extra product.  Each class is $25.00 dollars and we think you’ll be thrilled with the results.  You’ll love the way she mixes patterns and colors! You’ll learn new techniques and have a blast in her class!  She’ll be teaching once a month beginning in March, every 4th Monday.  We are so glad to have her teaching at our store :-)

 HELLO FROM SASSY SCRAPPER!!

I am so sorry that it has been so long since you have heard from us.   The Sassy girls have experienced major ups and downs in our lives this last month and sometimes we just have to take the time to be wives, mamas and grandmas like everyone else. But that being said, we are still here, still scrapping . . . . and putting out new product even as we speak!!

We had a wonderful time at Lakeshore last weekend. Bettye and Kim went the first day and I went on Saturday with more supplies!! Beautiful facility and beautiful people. We always consider it a privilege to get to spend time with them. Actually, we love the facility so much we are considering doing a Sassy Retreat there ourselves . . . keep watching !!

6) A wonderful new line from LITTLE YELLOW BICYCLE for all you moms with boys called GENERATION Z . . . you will love it

7) New flowers / embellishments from PRIMA

That should keep you busy for a while, girls until the next round of orders arrive :)

We will have hard copy of the calendar in house the first of the week. Website is current with more being added. Again, sorry about the delay, but it is well worth the wait!!

1)   We will be offering a "Beginner Stamp" Class during an evening and a morning class for March. You will be working with three different styles of stamps and introduced to various inks and techniques. Just enough to get your feet wet!  Sherri Hawes will be the instructor for both classes and has some great designs ready for you. If you have ever wondered if stamping and cards were for you . . . this is the time to play!!
More advanced classes with Copic Markers will be offered with Lee as the instructor. Lee is traveling to Memphis to get her "Demonstrator Certification" in Copic so she will be returning with great new ideas and techniques to share. These classes will compare to what you will get at CKC and at special Demonstrator Workshops . . . and you don't have to leave the Boro. Great opportunity, ladies. Don't miss it!!
And don't forget the "Stamper's Crop/Workshop" on Friday 12th. Bring your supplies and spend the evening working and spending time with other girls who share your love for stamping. There will be another "workshop/project" led by Amy Smith and using the new Impression Obsession Easter stamps. Grab a friend and come on down!!

2)  With three grandbabies arriving this year, I am a bit distracted . . . so thought it would be a great year to do a series of classes with the theme of "Baby's Firsts". Our first class will be celebrating Easter. I know that many of you are also celebrating new babies so hopefully this will help us all to get those special "Firsts" recorded.

3)  "Scrapping Your Heritage" is one of our very favorite classes this year. Allison created a beautiful layout for February. This month will be our third workshop celebrating our heritage and the girls have created some stunning layouts that truly inspire you to dig out all those old photos!!   We are also offering ideas and recources for researching your family trees. Not to late to join us and record those precious times with our parents and grandparents!!

4) "Basic Grey" Workshops are back on the calendar!!  BG was obviously running behind for 2010, but we have them in house now and will begin our workshops again on Thursday 25th. Because they were such a huge success last year, we doubled our order for this year. No reason to shop online this time girls, we have them right here at Sassy: Cost for the monthly kit will be $19.50.  You are welcome to attend the workshop the 4th Thursday of each month for the SAME PRICE and receive a 10% discount on all Basic Grey during class times. Don't forget to sign up!!

5) Bettye has already started designing her layout for Cricut and Beyond Basics and you are going to LOVE THEM!! If you have taken Betty's classes you know that you never go home disappointed and I can promise you that again for March. Still don't know what to do with that CRICUT???  Come join Allison for a beginner class or learn to make it dance in a workshop!!

6) Teen/Tween classes are back on the schedule for March. Bring your girls in for special projects and layout techniques.  What fun for you to be able to share your love of scrapbooking with your daughter!!

7) Don't forget LOTM is next Saturday, March 6th. We have a wonderful new layout designed for you with great new techniques. You won't want to miss this one!! If you haven't signed up yet, there is still time to get started and enjoy 10 wonderful layouts and special discounts thru 2010.    AND DON'T FORGET . . . Linda will be back on the same day with another Limited Edition Kit.  I know she has been giving "sneak peeks" on her blog and we have had lots of calls, so not expecting these kits to last thru the day. COME EARLY!!!

I know this has been quite the newsletter, but SO MUCH IS HAPPENING!!!  The one event this month that is near and dear to my heart is an all day crop to be held at Lascassas Baptist Church on March 27th, 8am-11pm. Emphasis for the day will be both financial and supply Aid for Haiti. My daughter and son-in-law have been involved in mission work in Haiti for two years and have been totally hands on since the earthquake. Elliott will be traveling again in April and I can promise you that all donations made thru their organization reaches the people 100%.   Please call your friends and come join us for the day to assist this organization in their selfless humanitarian aid. Cost for the day is $35.00 and a donation of either Children or Adult Vitamins.  Lunch and Dinner provided.

Thank you, ladies for getting to the bottom of this lengthy newsletter :)  I hope it has caught you up on all that is happening at Sassy and whetted your appetitie to come join us for some classes and workshops.  As always, we thank you for your continued support. It is our privilege to be your local scrapbook destination and we appreciate the loyalty that you continue to bless us with.      Have a wonderful week!!        Hugs from all the Sassy Girls

February 10, 2010

Hello all you SASSY GIRLS!!

Spring may not be in the air just yet, but everyone here at Sassy are wanting to get out and play!!  Sooooooooooo we have planned events for the next three months that we just can't wait to share with you!!

1) March 27 we will be sponsoring a fundraiser for "Aid For Haiti".      As many of you know, I have children directly involved with this group and the disaster relief program in Haiti. We are able, through their ministry, to get funds and supplies delivered directly to them and in the hands of the people immediately.  I have included an insert from their daily update . . .

Unfortunately, almost one month after the earthquake, AFH continues to be the only source of medical care for the 150,000 residents. Recently many international aid organizations have stopped into our hospital and praised the work being done but were uncertain when help would arrive. We are committed to the long term with the people here. Without another hospital to rely on, we can not abandon the Haitians who live here. AFH continues its commitment to express the love of Christ to these forgotten people of Petit Goave.

Please pray for the safety of our teams as they travel in and out of the country. Also pray that our resources to help these people increase. Our commitment to the city is currently more then we ever thought possible, but with God we have come to truly understand anything can be possible. Please consider further support of this ministry. Thank you for your friendship.

Theirs is a ministry that was there before the earthquake and will be there long after the debis is cleared. And they are a committed group of young people working to make a difference in both the physical and spiritual lives of the Haitian people. Let's show them just how much we appreciate their sacrifices and assist them with much needed funds and supplies. I promise you that 100% of what is given goes directly to this mission.
So come join us on Saturday, March 27 from 8am-10pm at Lascassas Baptist Church for an all day crop!! Cost for the day is $35 with lunch and dinner provided. We are also asking for donations of Vitamins (Adult or Child), Baby Formula and Tums.  What a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those experiencing crisis and at the same time spend the day counting our own blessings with friends!!  Call us today . . . let's make this our biggest event ever!!!

2) April 16/17/18 will be our SPRING RETREAT. You know I like to mix things up, so this time we are going to spend the weekend at a beautiful lodge facility in Centerville. We will be heading out Friday afternoon, April 16th for Camp Meribah and spending until Sunday afternoon scrapping, eating, laughing, eating, sharing  memories, eating and yes, we will be eating!!      If you have never been to Meribah is is a beautiful log lodge facility in a secluded woods area. There is a complete wrap around porch with dozens of rocking chairs and I am hoping that by April Spring will just be busting out all over!!  We will have the entire facility to ourselves with a great kitchen, a dining table that will seat everyone, a beautiful lounge area and complete use of the meeting room. There are four bedrooms with "very comfortable" bunks (double on the bottom).
Staff will arrive Friday afternoon to start setting up and you may arrive anytime after 3pm. If you have to leave school or work early, we will be happy to write you an excuse!!  Because of schedules, everyone will be on their own for dinner on Friday evening. There are local restaurants and fast food in the area and if you come across I-40 you can always grab something in Dickson. We are asking that everyone contribute some SNACKS OR DESSERT TO SHARE for the weekend. The only other items you will need to bring will be your scrapping supplies, a table light would be good and your own personal items including bedding.  I will bring extra extension cords, but you might want to throw one in yourself. Staff will be cooking so you may even want to bring your elastic waist PJ'S!!  And yes, we are bringing the waffle maker!!
Cost for the weekend will be $145.00 per person with a non-refundable deposit of $50 when you reserve your spot. I'm going to "SWEETEN THE POT" on this one ladies . . . we will give a $10 discount for the first 10 girls to sign up!! So grab the phone, call your friends first and then give us a call to get those discount spots saved!! I just don't want you to miss this one!!
3)May 8 . . . HAPPY NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY!! Actually, I think it is "officially"  the weekend before, but you know that is LOTM and we just can't squeeze one more thing in on LOTM weekend!!  We are still in the planning stages of a "Crop Around the Clock" to celebrate our scrapbooker's holiday, but will definitely make it quite the event!!  Just keep watching for the "official" announcement!!
I know your heads are spinning at this point  . . imagine how we are feeling :) :)  I think I am actually tired already :) :)    We just want you to know how very much we appreciate your continued support and want to do all we can to offer you a variety of scrapbooking opportunities. We absolutely love being your hometown scrapbook store and consider it a privilege to count each of you as friends. So check your calendars, be real sweet to your husbands and give us a call!!!   Don't forget the RETREAT DISCOUNT!!!        Have a wonderful week!!           Hugs from Mary   :)

HELLO GIRLS!!

I know that you have just heard from me, but once again my excitement is getting the better of me!!   For those of you who have been with us for a while, you remember that I missed last Christmas/New Year due to my hip surgery. I guess I am more than making up for it this year. Hang on to your hats!!

Remember that Friday and Saturday is our HERO ARTS 2010 PREVIEW DAY.  The stamps arrived today and the more I add to the inventory the more excited I get!! They are absolutely wonderful!!     Lee and Amy Smith have been working on the make and takes for the event and they have totally outdone themselves. You will definitely want to come down to not just see all the great new product, but to sit and play with them as well!!

While you are here for the party, we will be offering special pricing on all the new stamps. Unfortunately, we only have two of each stamp . . . but we will gladly extend the sale to special ordering as well :)

So what do you think about starting another card exchange??  (Did I mention that I am just overflowing with great ideas for the coming year???)  I really want to put more emphasis on our stamps and stamp accessories and be a little more "stamper friendly" for all you girls. So when you come in for the Preview Party we will have a sign up sheet for our first exchange of 2010. . . . and maybe make it a challenge as well!!   Be thinking girls, all suggestions both appreciated and considered!!

SEE YOU FRIDAY AND SATURDAY . . . . SMILES FROM MARY  :) :)

October 30
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM THE SASSY SCRAPPER!!

So do you all have your costumes ready and chocolate stocked??  Must admit that Halloween is not the event for me that it once was. We had such fun getting 7 kids dressed and loaded into the van (yes, I mean a VAN . . . 15 passenger and white!!)  to do our "trick or treating". Of course, back in the day, trick or treating ment going to the homes of people we knew, going inside and they pretended to "guess" who we really were :) I know that sounds a bit corny, but we never had to worry about checking our candy :)  And a great memory included the time we caught the neighbors TOTALLY UNEXPECTED and they ended up giving each of the kids a piece of fried chicken :)  What fun we had :) One more time, let me stress to take lots of pictures and WRITE down those memories as they will surely pass and fade away. Treasure these moments, girls :)

While you are out and about on Saturday, be sure to drop in at the store. We will be having out own "TRICK OR TREAT" sale and maybe even a bit of chocolate!!

Just got the November calendar on the website and will have it in house on Saturday. Lots of great classes/workshops coming up. We are beginning to put an emphasis on "Holiday Gifts" so be thinking about those special people on your lists. And mark your calendars now for our Annual Santa's Workshop Weekend!!  We have a wonderful line-up of classes to offer beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving and continuing until Sunday afternoon. Will also have kits available for purchase as well as storewide sales all three days!! I know the "big box" store sales are tempting, but I promise no one will be pushed, shoved or assaulted during our weekend workshop / sale :)

Another wonderful opportunity is coming up on November 14 when Lauren Ferguson will be joining us for a full day of workshops!!  Lauren has designed for  Ranger, Prima and Tattered Angels and we are very fortunate to have someone of this caliber joining us here in the Boro!!  These classes will be CK comparible, ladies (and no charge to get in the door :) . . . you may take one or spend the day (we will even feed you if you spend the day!!) just please don't miss this opportunity!!
